Local Note
The Schomburg Center's Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division's copy is a gift donated by "Arthur A. Schomburg" probably added to the Schomburg collection when Catherine A. Latimer was the collection librarian. It includes NYPL's bookplate of "Arthur A. Schomburg Negro Collection," the NYPL perforated stamp, and early processing markings of the original Schomburg Collection. Library-bound in red cloth over boards, with the illustrated cloth of the original decorated cover pasted on the front and back and gilt spine title; also includes a library rebounding date stamped: "May 4, 1942" on page [3] of the cover. G. K. Halls v. 1, page 875, column 3, row 4 showed a "July 17, 1942" re-cataloging date.
