Local Note
The Schomburg Center Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division has two copies of the pamphlet; copy in Sc Rare 326.1-F (Franklin, B. Essay on the African slave trade) is probably a post-Lawrence Reddick addition to the collection. It contains an "Arthur A. Schomburg Negro Collection" bookplate; and stamp: "Sc 8908," but lacks the NYPL perforated stamp and any other stamps or processing markings of the original Schomburg Collection. Bound in beige cloth over boards, library binding with additional blank pages at the back and a gilt spine.
Copy in Sc Rare C 15-24 (Lapidus Collection) is a gift, which is part of the Lapidus Collection added to the Schomburg collection in 2015. It inscribed, in ink, on p. 16, "John Hunt." Imperfect: brittle edge; in original self wrappers; some leaves unopened; currently house in a preservation envelope.
