- Local Note
- The Schomburg Center's Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division's copy is a gift added or transferred to the Schomburg collection when Catherine A. Latimer was the collection librarian and Lawrence Reddick was the Curator. The book bears an ink stamp: "Department of Negro Literature and History," which indicates that this item was probably part of parts of the Circulation Department; or may have been part of a multi-pamphlet set. It also includes manuscript notation on the top cover: Slavery pamphlets (boxes). The pamphlet is imperfect: disbound, treated, each page mended and encapsulated in mylar, rebound or post-bind in light green cloth over boards and gilt, black leather spine label. It lacks the NYPL bookplate and perforated stamp but has early processing markings of the original Schomburg Collection.
