- The Schomburg Center Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division has two copies of this book. Copy 1 (accession no. G73318) is a gift donated by "Arthur A. Schomburg" probably added to the Schomburg collection when Catherine A. Latimer was the collection librarian. It includes NYPL's bookplate of "Arthur A. Schomburg Negro Collection," the NYPL perforated stamp, and early processing markings of the original Schomburg Collection. It's also inscribed in ink: "personal copy of Senator B. K. Bruce of Mississippi presented to the Schomburg Collection by Mr. Schomburg." Library-bound in red cloth over boards, with the illustrated original wrappers and Hon. B. K. Bruce's personal leather cover pasted on a soft paper board and gilt spine title.Copy 2 (accession no. B389719) is part of the original collection purchased from Arthur A. Schomburg in 1926. It includes NYPL's bookplate of "Arthur A. Schomburg Negro Collection," NYPL's perforated stamp, and some early processing markings.
