A. Schwartz toy & fancy emporium, J. E. Caldwell & Co.'s jewelry store, Grover & Baker Sewing Machine Company, Porter & Coates bookstore, Wm. F. Murphy's stationery establishment, including printing dept. and store, engines being manufactured at Baldwin Locomotive works, women in bobbin winding room of woolen mill; Japanese flag flying from building across from Continental hotel where Japanese envoy was staying (1860); Planters House; Trans-Continental Hotel; Globe Hotel; Betz Building; Dr. Jayne's building, including views of the building gutted by fire, and views of ice-covered buildings at scene of the burning of the building; First National Bank; Saving Fund Society; Press building, John Wanamakers; the Farmers Market; a view of thw "ways" used by Cramp & Sons for the U. S.
