- Views from the Darien expedition led by T. O. Selfridge: portrait of a photographer, probably Timothy O'Sullivan, with camera in Pinogana, a village of thatched buildings, other street views, group of people in front of thatched house, from the Turya River, including view showing steam launch, plantation of trees near Pinogana, a mango tree, wash day on the Turya River; Cupica Bay, including a natural rock arch, islands, surf a cave, waterfall of Quebroda del Mar, a sailor carrying cask on beach, U.S.S. Resoca beyond; Limon Bay, including views of a cave, cliffs, the Limon river at the beach; Limon River, including views of waterfalls, the jungle, and Napipi trail at the river, and the headwaters of the river; Darien Harbor, including the harbor itself, the observatory, a small shack surrounded by barrels, with a tent and men beyond, man sitting at the base of a tree in the woods; Chipagana: boats and thatched buildings from the beach, man resting in a hammock, surveyors in the forest, all wearing broad brimmed hats, a ship on the Gulf of Darien, "group of natives," views in the forest near Chipagana; a forest trail; Santa Maria del Real: general view, ruins of Old Spanish fort; Turbo: "native hut," cocoa grove, dug-out canoe and thatched building, other larger houses; Napipi trail: Napipi River, men in a palm grove, and a palm leaf "surveyor's Hut".

- Views made in either 1870 or 1871, on surveys to "ascertain the practicability of a ship-canal between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans by the way of the isthmus of Darien" which were led by Thomas O. Selfridge, commander, U. S. Navy.
- The photographer on the 1870 survey was Timothy O'Sullivan. The photographer on the 1871 survey was John Moran. Neither the dates nor the photographers are identified on the views.
