- Biography
Jacob Whitman Bailey (1811-1857) was an American botanist, chemist and geologist. He was a cadet at the United States Military Academy at West Point, 1828-1882, and taught there from 1834-1857. In 1838 he became the first Professor of Chemistry, Mineralogy and Geology at West Point.
