Erik Bruhn speaks with John Gruen about the relationship of his art to his life including his balancing of work and play; the intensity he has always brought to his dancing and to his personal relationships; spending time away from dance in order to renew himself; Kenneth MacMillan's Las hermanas; roles he now feels ready to dance, including the psychological roles in Martha Graham's works; his admiration for José Limón's works; Paul Taylor; John Neumeier and the pas de deux [Epilogue] he created for Bruhn and Natalia Makarova; Frederick Ashton's Romeo and Juliet including Bruhn's regret that it was not created for him; performing in Antony Tudor's works; his relationship with George Balanchine and his time at New York City Ballet; the Panamerica evening [a program of ballets by Balanchine and others]; [ends abruptly but continues on streaming file 2].
