Summary
SUMMARY: Lisa Rinehart, a member of the corps de ballet of American Ballet Theatre, and John Bass, a member of the New York City Ballet corps de ballet, each discuss the process of being selected for a corps de ballet; their individual backgrounds and training; the nature of dancing as a corps member for the two different companies; their own career aspirations. Recordings of music from ballets in which Lisa Rinehart and John Bass have danced as corps members are played: The waltz of the snowflakes from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker suite, a selection from John Phillip Sousa's Stars and stripes (used for Balanchine's ballet of the same name), and the concluding mazurka from Tchaikovsky's Suite no. 3 in G major (the music for Balanchine's Theme and variations).
