Summary
Streaming file (approximately 41 minutes). [Begins abruptly.] Joyce Trisler speaks to Walter Terry about how she first became interested in Ruth St. Denis and the Denishawn dancers when she saw St. Denis's Brahms waltzes as staged by Klarna Pinska; staging the work on her own company [Joyce Trisler Danscompany]; engaging Pinska to work on her project of recreating the Denishawn dances; Klarna Pinska; Trisler's background including her moving to New York City at the invitation of Doris Humphrey to join her company [the Humphrey-Weidman Company]; Humphrey as her link to Denishawn; the variety of styles to be represented in the Denishawn program [entitled Spirit of Denishawn]; the concept of music visualization including as seen in George Balanchine's works; Ruth St. Denis dances Trisler would like to revive; her belief that St. Denis has not received sufficient credit for her contributions to dance; the cost of the program; Trisler and Terry discuss Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn in terms of their professional and personal qualities including the relating of various anecdotes [ends abruptly].
