  • Streaming audio file 1 (approximately 47 minutes). Nadia Nerina speaks with John Gruen about Erik Bruhn as the epitome of a classical male dancer; her belief that Sonia Arrova had a significant influence on Bruhn as an artist; her first meeting with Bruhn and their partnership at the Royal Ballet, in 1962; Rudolf Nureyev and his first appearance with Margot Fonteyn; Bruhn as compared to Nureyev with respect to their dancing and their personalities; her belief that Nureyev had a negative effect on Bruhn's perception of himself as a dancer and on his career; Bruhn as a partner; the circumstances that led to Bruhn's being invited to the Royal Ballet as her partner [ends abruptly but continues on streaming audio file 2].
