- Costume for a Swiss peasant, circa 1830. Man, full length to slight right, looking left, pipe in mouth, leaning on a staff. Wearing large mushroom-shaped hat, loose tunic, breeches, stockings rolled at top and banded, sandals. A large cheese is fastened with thongs to a wooden rack which he carries on his back.
