Engraving in line border; plate mark: 28 x 20 cm.
Note
  • Probably published by Jacques Rigaud (ca. 1681-1754) or his nephew Jean Baptiste Rigaud (b. 1700).
  • Legend: Ten lines of poetry in French, which include a reference to "Petit Boudet."
  • Depicts Jacques Boudet, then five and a half years old, as Pierrot in Panard's La comédie sans hommes; ou L'infidélité punie, first performed at the Opéra Comique, February 3, 1732. Boudet, standing on a terrace, is viewed full length to front, looking left. Wearing hat, ruff, jacket, and knee pants. The wooden sabots or clogs and peasant costume for his speciality are on the ground, foreground right. Trees and statues in background.
