Foreground (left to right): The Earl of Fife, father of Maria Mercandotti, and Hughes Ball, her future husband, observing the dancer. Mercandotti, wearing her costume for the title role in Albert's ballet Cendrillon, on right pointe, left leg extended to side. Lise Noblet, left foot back, right foot pointe tendue, in costume for an unidentified ballet, full length to front, her right arm raised above head, left hand behind her back. Lord Petersham stands at extreme right.
  • Background center: Marie Taglioni, sur les pointes, costumed as Zoloé in the ballet interpolated in Auber's opera Le dieu et la bayadère. Portrait of Marie Taglioni, lower right margin of engraving. A hand-colored version of *MGZFB Mer M C 3.
