  • An anonymous American sheet music cover after an 1859 English lithograph by John Brandard (image reversed).
  • A scene from Paul Taglioni's ballet divertissement Les plaisirs de l'hiver; ou Les patineurs, first performed at Her Majesty's Theatre, July 5, 1849, to a score by Cesare Pugni based on Hungarian tunes.
  • Depicts skaters on the frozen Danube; a wide bridge spanning the river in the distance. Carolina Rosati and Paul Taglioni perform the Pas de la Hussarde.
  • Taglioni, poised on his right foot with his left foot slightly behind and raised off the ground, is skating toward the audience. His arms are folded, his body is slightly inclined from the waist to the right. Rosati accompanies Taglioni, her left hand on his right shoulder. Her body is slightly inclined, from the waist, to the left.
  • Reproduction of Brandard's original lithograph in Cyril Beaumont's Complete Book of Ballets, 1956, between pages 378-379. Also reproduced in Dance and dancers, Feb. 1958, p. 22.
