Note
  • Lower left: etched by G. Cruikshank.
  • Caricature, possibly depicting the interior of a dancing school. Four couples, composed of singularly unattractive men and women, practice the waltz. The men dance with their arms around the women's waist; the women perform the dance with their hands resting on their partners' shoulders.
  • There are two paintings on the back wall. The painting at left depicts two itinerant musicians playing fiddles while a young boy begs for coins; the painting at right shows four dancing dogs.
  • Reproduced in Dance magazine, April 1951, p. 17.
