- Probably a 19th-century restrike from an 18th century plate. Depicts a costume ball in progress given at Versailles during the carnaval season of 1763. Members of the court watch from two tiers of boxes and from chairs on the main floor as dancers, dressed in elegant versions of rustic attire, perform a maypole dance, probably from the entertainment La Noce du Village.
