  • 14 photographs, by Claire Holt, the Koloniaal Instituut of Amsterdam, and uncredited photographers, of dance in East Java. Subjects include the Gandrung, Reog, Singa barong, and Topeng.
  • 19 photographs by Claire Holt and others of West Javanese (Sundanese) dance, including dancing musicians playing angklungs (bamboo instruments), the Butterfly dance, Pencak, popular shows, street dancing, Topeng, and Wayang Wong.
  • An old print illustrating the Serimpi, from d'Eerste Boeck (1597), one of the first Dutch books about Java, is reproduced. The dancer Wisnu Wardhana is shown in the Klono dance.
