- 96 photographs of dance and miscellaneous subjects, taken on the Indonesian island of Bali by the American Museum of Natural History, Angelica Archipenko, Claire Holt, Alfred Hudson, Jaap Kunst, H. E. R. Rodius, the Royal Institute for the Tropics (Amsterdam), Walter Spies, and Zindler.
- Topeng (mask) dances are represented in action shots and through collections of masks (including that of Mangkunagara VII of Surakarta); the Jauk dance and characters from the Ramayana are shown. A selection of Wayang kulit (shadow) puppets is depicted, as is Balinese Wayang Wong (dance-drama) representation of the Ramayana. Dancer Ida Bagus Ketut is shown in performance.
- Anthropologist Jane Belo appears among photographs of Claire Holt's acquaintances in Bali. Reproductions of paintings by Walter Spies are also included.
