Harinder Singh, a Ph.D. candidate in electrical engineering at Stanford University, describes his observations of western ballroom dancing both in his native India, where partner dancing is frowned upon by traditionalists, and in the U.S., where he has experienced the challenges of preparing and performing a bronze-level rumba in a ballroom dancing exhibition.
