Summary
During the "piegre" festive cycle (named after a Brazilian bird), a stepping dance is performed in the center of the Crahó village of Pedra Branca. The men and boys, with the women and girls at the edges of the group, are led by a man wearing a band of rattles around his knee. A female "best singer," distinguished by her red scarf, accompanies them. Footage filmed on the next day shows the same dance led by a different singer.
