Improvised dance performance at the Cat Club, New York, videotaped on March 21, 1988, by Ronald Kienhuis. Additional footage of George Lloyd, Margaret Batiuchok and Charlie Meade videotaped by Vibeke Winding and Jesper Sorensen.   • CONTENTS. - Reel 1 (approx. 62 min.): Introduction by Margaret Batiuchok. In the studio, George Lloyd and Batiuchok dance the lindy, and Lloyd explains and demonstrates its steps. In an interview with Batiuchok, he discusses various aspects of dancing the lindy, including the fine points of partnering, changes in the dance over time, and advice to aspiring lindy dancers. - Reel 2 (approx. 36 min. total): Continuation of the interview/demonstration (approx. 25 min.). Lloyd discusses the qualities of a good swing dancer and recalls the difficulties caused by racial discrimination, which was often carried over into the ballroom. Improvised dance performance at the Cat Club (approx. 9 min.), recorded at CodanceCo's Gotta-dance Gotta-pay-the-rent Ball. Danced by Batiuchok, Lloyd, Tom Lewis, and Frank Manning, accompanied by the Loren Schoenberg Big Band. Dancing by Batiuchok and Charlie Meade, in the studio (approx. 2 min.). - Reel 3 (approx. 46 min. total): Dancing by Batiuchok and Lloyd, in the studio, including an interview of Lloyd by Jesper Sorensen (?) (approx. 39 min.). Lloyd discusses dancing in his native Florida and in New York at the Savoy Ballroom and other dance clubs, the U.S.O. shows that he mounted, the Harvest Moon Ball competitions, and how he resumed dancing with Batiuchok as a partner, winning the lindy category of the Harvest Moon Ball with her in 1983.
