Numbers on verso of each print correspond to photographic negative numbers assigned by Roger Wood; see his register of negative numbers in *MGZEN 95-5483, Box 28. Some prints have hand-written instructions on recto and/or verso for cropping, lightening, darkening, masking, etc.

- Biography (note)
- Roger Wood's first dance photographs, of Ballets Jooss, were taken in July 1944. Wood then continued to photograph many dancers and dance companies as they performed in London and other European cities from 1944-1961; he also photographed London opera and theatrical productions. His dance photographs were published in several periodicals (Ballet, Ballet annual, Dance and dancers, Dance magazine, Dance news, Dancing times, Theatre arts) and in three small monographs: The New York City Ballet - in action (Saturn Press, 1953?); The Sadler's Wells Ballet (Saturn Press, 1951); The Theatre Ballet of Sadler's Wells in photographs (Phoenix House, 1952). Wood's London theater photographs have been published in Shakespeare at the Old Vic (various editions, 1954-1958) and A D'Oyly Carte album (two editions, 1953 and 1958).
