Note The personal and professional manuscript materials of Ruth Page, American dancer, choreographer, company director, teacher and writer, is part of a larger continuing gift of Ruth Page, including costume and set designs, films, photographs, clippings, scrapbooks, posters, music scores and programs, to the Dance Collection since 1969.
Approximately 90 per cent of the items is personal, professional or artistic correspondence. Over 400 folders contain letters written by Thomas H. Fisher, Ruth Page's husband. Nearly 200 folders contain letters written by Ruth Page, primarily to her husband or to her mother, Marian H. Page. Much of the correspondence relates to Ruth Page's performances, her ballets and to the companies with which she was connected: Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, Les Ballets Américains, the Chicago Opera Ballet, Ruth Page's International Ballet.
The Collection is divided into five major series: Correspondence 1918-1970 (2,441 folders); Manuscripts (111 folders); Notebooks (13 notebooks); Publicity Material (51 folders); and Business Records (190 folders). For more specific information, inquire at reference desk for register.
