Note Primarily documents the professional life of Agnes de Mille from the 1940s through the early 1980s.
The correspondence series (3,260 items) includes letters to and from other dancers, choreographers, artists of various disciplines political figures, publishers, and family. Correspondents include Aaron Copland, Martha Graham, Lincoln Kirstein, José Limón, Carmelita Maracci, Marie Rambert, Jerome Robbins, and Antony Tudor. Additional correspondence series include Ballet Theatre (139 items); the Royal Winnipeg Ballet (320 items); and de Mille's husband, Walter Prude (407 items).
The writings of de Mille (73 items) cover her adolescent diaries through her college and professional career. Over 30 of her ballets and shows are represented in choreographic and production notes: American Suite, Three Virgins and a Devil, and Rodeo are particularly extensive.
