- 81 photographic prints : silver gelatin, b&w; 21 x 26 cm. or smaller on mounts 24 x 38 cm.
- Summary
- Views of buildings and grounds, including debris strewn areas and gardens, and interior views including the Great Hall, dining room and other areas at Ellis Island. Images of immigrants include groups waiting to be processed, women and children eating at long tables and portraits of groups in ethnic garb, including a group of gypsies. The collection also includes views of New York harbor and skyline, and ferries used to transport the immigrants.

- Photographs include multiple prints and/or copy prints of some images. Prints were mounted on green card stock by the Local History and Geneology Division and bear NYPL and LH&G stamps on verso. Items numbered on mounts. Some blind stamped Edwin Levick, New York and have numbers in negative. 33 images are by Levick, the rest by unidentified photographer(s).
