- Summary
- Peter Martins, then a principal dancer with New York City Ballet, talks about making the transition from Bournonville to Balanchine. He discusses the distinguishing characteristics of Bournonville's choreography, finding many similarities to the choreography of Balanchine. He pays tribute to Stanley Williams, the choreographer of Bournonville divertissements (retitled Bournonville dances for this telecast), and comments upon the differences between the Royal Danish Ballet's and New York City Ballet's interpretations of Bournonville's choreography.
