Note
  • Most prints were executed in 1861-1862.
  • States cited according to descriptions in Moreau-Nélaton. States are described differently in other references.
  • Some prints include graphite notes by Henri-Charles Guérard. MN13 is inscribed "imprimé par H. Guérard." MN1 is inscribed in black ink "A P.M. témoinages d'amitié. Edouard Manet."
  • Title page lists the contents of the 1862 portfolio as follows: Philippe IV (Velasquez), Les petits cavaliers, L'enfant à l'épée, Le buveur d'absinthe, Le gamin, La petite fille, L'enfant et le chien, Le guitarero, Lola de Valence, L'espada, Le baïlerin, Les gitanos, La toilette, La mde. de cierges. Added note by Manet in black ink: Le Prado. According to Jean C. Harris, La marchande de cierges, L'enfant à l'épée & Le baïlerin were not included in either the 1862 or the 1874 portfolio. Au Prado has not traditionally been associated with either portfolio, but Manet's note suggests that he considered it for inclusion.
