| Summary |
Scrapbook, predominately clippings, also programs and ephemera, documents a musical production of THE WIZARD OF OZ presented by Frederick R. Hamlin, staged by Julian Mitchell, with book and lyrics by L. Frank Baum and music by Paul Tietjens. The extravaganza, starring Anna Laughlin, Fred A. Stone and David C. Montgomery, played at the Grand Opera House in Chicago in the summer of 1902, then toured various cities including Memphis, St. Louis and Toronto, before serving as the opening production of the new Majestic Theatre in New York City in January 1903. |

Townsend Walsh (1872-1941) worked as a press agent for various theatrical companies beginning in 1898. He was also a drama critic, playwright, collector, theater and circus historian, and sometime actor. |
