| Summary |
Side A. Former New York City Ballet dancer Marian Horosko discusses George Balanchine's choreographic legacy; traits she perceives as common between Balanchine and Martha Graham; her theories about Balanchine's relationships with women; her time as a member of the New York City Ballet; her thoughts about Balanchine and ballet technique; and the effect of his final illness on his work. She describes her disagreements with the School of American Ballet's training methods and its dissemination of Balanchine's ideas about dancing. Horosko discusses the difficulties of filming ballet, and then continues with perceptions of Balanchine as a person and as an artist, as well as her own experiences in the company. |
