Biography (note)
  • Lily Langtry organized her own theatrical company and toured in Europ e and the United States. The American actress Lillian Russell attended Langtry's performance at Wallack's Theatre in New York City on Nov. 6, 1982, leaving during the last intermission. The public press promoted a rivalry between what was called the "two Lillies". Another connection between them existed in the person of American playboy tycoon Diamond Jim Brady, who, having initially showered Lily Langtry with expensive gifts, would later turned his attention to Lillian Russell.
