| Summary |
The Lawrence M. Klee papers consist primarily of correspondence and other items concerning Mr. Klee's radio career. Items related to radio include a memo concerning potential plot twists of YOUNG WIDDER BROWN, contracts to write for MR. & MRS. NORTH and other programs, and a proposal for a show to be based on the works of Somerset Maugham. Television is represented only by a 1950 note concerning Klee's writing fee for MAN AGAINST CRIME, a show which ran on radio from 1947-51, and television from 1949-54. Klee's wartime service is represented by the Silver Medal awarded him by the U.S. Treasury Department, and by several letters commending him for war work. |
| Biography |
Lawrence M. Klee was a writer for radio and television, very active during the 1940s and 1950s, writing for several crime and adventure series in both mass media, including MAN AGAINST CRIME, Mr. & MRS. NORTH, and Mr. KEEN, TRACER OF LOST PERSONS, as well as the daytime drama YOUNG WIDDER BROWN. In addition to his work in radio and television, during the Second World War Klee also wrote three skits for the American Theatre Wing dramatizing the need to buy War Bonds, for which he received a Silver Medal Award from the U.S. Treasury Department. |
