  • Cassette 1 10/31/2000. 80 min. Ms. Cohen discusses her family background as a Yemenite Jew in Israel, the context in which she began to dance; studying with choreographer Gertrud Kraus; her developing focus on dance; seeing the Martha Graham Dance Company perform; studying Graham technique with Rena Gluck in Israel; other choreographers with whom she worked in Israel; working with Anna Sokolow; auditioning for Jerome Robbins' Fiddler on the Roof; her admiration for Sokolow; her developing awareness of herself as a performer and accepting Sokolow's encouragement to come to New York; her experience in the Israeli army; coming to New York.
