- Interview with Rudolf Nureyev. Topics include: his fascination with dance and early decision to make it his lifework ; his experience as a folk dancer during his youth in Ufa ; reasons for his decision to study at the Kirov School rather than the Bolshoi ; his family in Russia ; the qualities of a good dancer, in addition to talent ; the need to appreciate both classical and contemporary ballets, as well as modern dance ; what he learned from producing and choreographing ballets ; the value of studying Petipa's choreography ; his desire to give the male dancer equal prominence with the female dancer ; his first meeting with Margot Fonteyn, and the mutual respect they developed during their partnership ; his philosophy of life.
