  • For approximate date of publication, cf. Maxted, I. London book trades 1775-1800 (Marshall was at 140 Fleet Street 1808-1828).
  • Two accompanying sheets, "The Children's Printer to the Doll's Mamma" ([2] leaves) and "Contents of the Doll's Casket" ([1] leaf), were originally folded and laid in the box.
  • "Contents of the Doll's Casket: 12 Volumes of Pictures, 2 Battledores, 3 Packets of Beasts, 3 Packets of Birds, 4 Packets of Objects, A Portfolio of Landscapes, A Bag of Letters to make words with, A Pincushion with six black and six white pins, A Curious Map of the world"--Accompanying sheet.
  • Picture books ([14] leaves each) and battledores ([3] leaves each) contain hand-col. engravings; bound in glazed decorative paper boards. Prints are hand-col. engravings on stiff paper. Map, "A new and accurate map of the world," is engraved and hand-col. Items range in size from ca. 25 mm. to ca. 40 mm. (letters are smaller).
