Views of African Americans, probably in the South: cotton or rice fields, including people picking and carrying cotton, hoeing and cutting rice and one view of a man pulling a plow guided by woman; men loading cotton bales on a ship; ox carts, including a lightwood boy, and a view of man with load of hay entitled "15th Amendment"; genre scenes including a man fiddling in front of a shack, a woman checking a child's scalp for lice, children in front of a cabin, girl at wash-tub, man grinding an ax as girl looks on, man cooking in front of cabin; portraits including "Moss pickers" in front of a shack, "Bob & Martha" at home, a studio portrait of Jack and Abby Landlord, both over 100 years old, view of a group lined up in front of row of shacks, group of elderly people on porch; group of portraits of young chimney sweeps, including studio portraits, a view showing boy inside artificial chimney in studio, and the boys on the street; views of two boys entitled "Cherubs"; studio view of boot blacks and customers; boys chewing on sugar cane; man in a top hat in front of a shack with several boys with books entitled "Uncle Abe's school house and scholars"; view of boys entitled "Happy little nigs"; "side show at Chatham Fair" showing men, women and girls on small stage, two playing guitars, others singing; young woman wading at ocean beach, pier beyond.
