- Summary
- Discs 1-2 (ca. 92 min.). Chase discusses her early experiences in dance, particularly the graduate program at UCLA [University of California, Los Angeles]; arriving to teach at Dartmouth with no prior teaching experience; the development of her first class there and the first performance of [Moses Pendleton's and Jonathan Wolken's work] Pilobolus; the influence of Murray Louis' positive response; performing opportunities that developed; expanding Pilobolus Dance Theatre to six collaborators; creating Ciona and other works that followed, including Mutsut and Untitled; responses to the first performance of Untitled including the aspect of nudity; consolidating the company and expanding to include other collaborators, administrators and performers; Martha Clarke's leaving the company and the replacement dancers and changes that resulted; the transition from the original Pilobolus as founding members left to do other projects and eventually returned to create work on new company members; the administrative challenges of running the company; her own trajectory and work including a piece for the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes and other pieces on Pilobolus.
