Disc 1 (ca. 32 min.). Martha Clarke describes her first experiences in dance and early influences, particularly of Antony Tudor, one of her teachers at the Juilliard School; working with Anna Sokolow; Clarke's resistance to the prevailing devotional atmosphere of traditional modern dance; her first experiences working with Pilobolus [Dance Theatre] and the qualities that she and Alison Chase brought to the company; the social and creative atmosphere of the company at that time. |
