Biography John Wallowitch (1930- ) composer, singer, and pianist born in Philadelphia, PA. He attended Temple University in Pennsylvania and received a bachelor's degree from the Juilliard School of Music. During this time, he studied piano with Beveridge Webster, Abby Whiteside and Joseph Prostakoff. Wallowitch made his concert piano debut at the Carnagie Recital Hall in 1962. Soon after, he performed in a European concert tour set forth by the U.S. State Department. After his cross-continent tour, he returned to the United States where he began composing and performing in cabaret venues. Over the years, he has composed over 1,000 songs including, "Bruce", "This Moment", "My Love Went to London", and "Come a Little Closer." During that time, he also recorded three albums of songs he wrote and performed himself. In 1984, he partnered with dancer Bertram Ross to become one half of the cabaret duo, "Wallowitch and Ross," premiering at New York City's The Ballroom. He has also collaborated with such artists as Tony Scibetta and Ira Wallach, and singers such as Dixie Carter and Lynn Lobban have performed his songs. Beginning in 1980, Wallowitch has also starred in his own public access television program, John's Cabaret, which continues to air on public access channels.
