Biography
The Maverick family is associated with the formative years of Texas statehood through its descent from rancher and politician Samuel Augustus Maverick (1803-1870) of San Antonio. Later family members represented in this collection who were notably engaged in social activism and public affairs include pacifist and world government activist Lola Maverick Lloyd; economist Lewis Adams Maverick; labor activist and journalist Jessie Lloyd O'Connor, and William Bross Lloyd, Jr., journalist and world government activist.
