| Biography |
Allen Bathurst, first Earl Bathurst, English politician. He was friends with many eighteenth-century literary figures, notably Pope, Congreve, Prior, Swift, and later Sterne, who included a character sketch of Bathurst in the third of his Letters to Eliza (1775). |
