· To William Stevenson, Norwich publisher and author : 1 autograph letter signed : 8 Feb 1805 : (MISC 0378) : 1 page (single sheet) : from Somerset Place, London : begins, "I return you many thanks for your kind present of a copy of Dr. Sayer's elegant and ingenious little work ..." The book mentioned is F. Sayers's Miscellanies (Norwich: Stevenson & Matchett, 1805); the Pforzheimer Colection holds the copy given to Brand by Stevenson, with a tipped in letter from Stevenson (MISC 4107).

  • John Brand, British topographer and authority on pre-Christian Britain. Brand wrote several volumes of poetry, but is chiefly remembered for his works on British antiquities. His Popular Antiquities was revised in 1870 by William Carew Hazlitt, grandson of William Hazlitt.
