Summary
Political and social caricatures from the reign of George III. Individuals portrayed include Isaac Barré, Edmund Burke, Matthew Darly, Georgiana Duchess of Devonshire, Maria Anne Fitzherbert, Charles James Fox, Frederick Augustus, Duke of York, George III, George IV, Warren Hastings, the Earl of Mansfield, Viscount Melville, Lord North, James Edward Oglethorpe, William Pitt, the Duke of Richmond, Mary Robinson, Thomas Rumbold, Richard Brinsley Sheridan, Earl Stanhope, Edward Thurlow and John Wilkes. Includes representations of balloons, barbers, chamber pots, Chelsea pensioners, cross dressing, dandies, fashion, masks, mirrors, see-saws, urination and wigs. Settings include the House of Commons, Kensington Gardens and Lincoln Cathedral. Manuscript note cited in card catalog record: "Here follows a few of the best prints, selected from a vast number, that were published on the changes of adminstration in 1782, 1783, & 1784, on the coalition between Mr. Fox & Lord North, on Mr. Fox's East India bill in 1783 and on the Westminster election in 1784."
