Biography (note)
  • As of the creation of this record, little biographical information could be found about Joseph Ely, amateur poet of Bristol. Manuscript materials by Joseph Ely are also held by the library at McMaster University in Ontario, the Jewish National and University Library in Israel, and by the Winterthur Library in Delaware. The record for the manuscript notebook held by the Winterthur Library suggests Ely's base of operations as Bristol, Connecticuit. The paper in the booklets held by the Pforzheimer Collection, however, is blind stamped "Bally & Co., Bath," making it more likely that Ely was based in England.
