  • Illustrations: frontispiece portrait of the author by C. Nanteuil, engraved by Burney, and title page vignettes (portraits of Albert and Mlle. de Maupin) by Champollion, engraved by Louis Leloir.
  • Issued also with variant title pages without the vignettes, and without the portrait of Gautier.
  • A suite of illustrations, containing 2 engraved title pages, 2 small floral headpieces after Louis Leloir and 17 illustrations after Édouard Toudouze, was issued separately in 1884-1885, in 2 parts (1re-2e livraison), as: Mademoiselle de Maupin : dix-huit compositions de E. Center panel within a frame of three fillets and an ornate inner frame of modernized Louis XVth design, composed of small tools and fillets forming compartments inlaid with blue and others adorned with small quatrefoils in red; at the bottom, the monogram of Mr. Spencer. Back tooled and lettered. With gilt edges, marbled end papers, and lining of blue watered grosgrain silk. Original covers bound in.
