Summary
Martin Bookspan interviews American lyricist and songwriter Ervin Drake during an undated broadcast. Drake discusses his studies for graphic design, and switching his career from visual artist to lyricist and composer; his hit songs like Tico-Tico (1942), Perdido (1944), and The rickety rickshaw man (1945); his work as a producer in television; his collaborators; and the Broadway productions such as What makes Sammy run? (1964) for which he wrote music and lyrics, including his famous song A room without windows.
