Summary
Patricia Wilde speaks with Barbara Cole about joining the American Concert Ballet at age 14 and later Le Grand Ballet du Marquis de Cuevas [Grand Ballet de Monte Carlo, Marquis de Cuevas] and the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo where she worked with Leonide Massine; changing demands on dancers from the time of her performing career to the present time; her move from Director of the Ballet Theatre School to Artistic Director of the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre; the challenges of her first year at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre; choreographers she invited to work with the company, including Ohad Naharin; structuring training programs and the day-to-day running of the company and school [Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School]; her children's lives and careers; her experiences as a guest teacher; sacrificing her own education to financial necessity.
