Summary
Depiction of an elegantly dressed dancing couple in an outdoor setting, accompanied by a man playing the musette, a form of rustic bagpipe. Other ladies and gentlemen sit or stand nearby, observing or conversing.

Biography (note)
  • Antoine Watteau's original oil painting on canvas first belonged to the painter François Stiemart (1680-1740). It was sold at Christie's in 1997 under the title "A fête champêtre: La musette." This print by Jean Moyreau was made to the same measurements as Watteau's painting, but reverses the image.
