Summary
Martin (Maarten Jan) Knottenbelt (1920-2004) was a Dutch citizen who served in World War II, and then went on to become an anti-war activist, primarily in Europe and the United States. The Martin Knottenbelt papers consist mainly of correspondence between Knottenbelt and members of the press and politicians, as Knottenbelt campaigned to advance anti-war messages (especially seeking to get these messages in print). The majority of Knottenbelt's correspondence is in English, but some Dutch-language materials are also present. Materials in this collection date from 1970 to 1984, with the bulk falling between 1978 and 1982.
