- · To Sir Joseph Banks, naturalist and patron of science : 1 autograph letter signed : 24 Dec 1810 : (MISC 0985) : from Rodmartin : begins, "If the inclosed miscellanies of odd names from my collection should contribute towards the making a merry Christmas for yourself and the Ladies I shall think my time in transcribing them well bestowed." With three and a half pages of humorous names culled from various parish registers. The list begins: "Joan Grone, the midwife, buried 1575. Kingston on Thames. / A daughter of Hamlet & Gertrude Johnson baptized. Romford. / John Wild & Agnes Gallant married -- Ibid. / Hercules Commander. Lambeth ..."
